Marine Science

In the squid dissection workshop, students will examine the internal and external anatomy of a squid to understand its biological structure and functions.  During the dissection students will learn to identify external features like the tentacles, arms, eyes, and siphon and also the internal key organs such as the gills, ink sac, heart, and beak. The process highlights the squid’s adaptations for survival, such as its jet propulsion system, camouflage capabilities, and unique circulatory system. This hands-on investigation provides insights into the anatomy and physiology of cephalopods and marine biology. The will be followed up with a brief discussion and display on plastics in the marine/freshwater environment and what measures can be taken to limit their use and destructive influence on the health and wellbeing of the environment for which we depend on so much.
